Emerging Asian countries have grown rapidly in population and urbanization over the years. As these countries expand, there is a growing concern over environmental problems and an increasing demand for eco-friendly urban development.
Having experienced a drastic change during the high growth era in the late 20th century, Japan has become a thriving modern country in a very short time. Technology that has been acquired in the process of urbanization provides an important model for emerging countries.
Japan Conference on Overseas Development of Eco-Cities (J-CODE) was established under the auspices of leading Japanese companies to respond in an integrated manner and meet the rapidly growing needs of eco-friendly urban development in emerging countries. Incorporating many companies as “Team Japan”, J-CODE strives to construct, produce and promote eco-friendly urbanization projects from the initial stages with joint efforts between government offices and private sectors.
